FULL MOON CYCLE - MAY 2016
URSULINE ALLEY
During moments of cease-fire in the neighborhood
I am allowed to walk the dog before curfew.
Lock and leave the flat and off we go
searching for karma yoga water
which seems to be taking longer these days for some reason
It is a faux peace I have with them,
the rowdy natives who buy frightened guns instead of leaving home.
We come to the first checkpoint
what is her name they ask looking down
I look down and say Blanca
And you? I am the deposed Prince of The City returning to take my throne -
they pass me through after a brief brisk
and now my wallet is missing
(but my housekey is still in my shoe)
Through the narrows of the Ursuline Alley in the eventide
we go along sniffing over-cautiously, naked and taking our sweet time
smelling every rose
and then peeing on it. I follow blindly, like a dutiful servant,
beholding each step of the enchanting Blanca.
I keep thinking it is deja vu
but I am not sure what deja vu really is. Exactly.
I just might be simply mesmerized instead but now I am daydreaming.
My eyes never move away but my mind goes wandering toward envy
balancing the possibilities of my reality
against the many benefits of beauty in the eye of the beholder
that only she knows
I'm not sure which to believe anymore
but you couldn't tell by looking...
Nothing ever gets solved but still the sun will rise and set
without giving you enough time to figure it out.
This day was like yesterday, which will be like tomorrow was
going nowhere but looking good while doing it
(oh the problems of innocent suffering)
